Floral Aline;
following recent trends on the high street i attempted to create my own a-line mini using fabric i gathered from curtain samples, i was using a range of materials which behaved differently which was a challenge to begin with but i over came with a little patience. i choose neutrals and reds as my colour palette and worked with 3 different textured fabrics, two floral print and one beige velvet. i added a red zip up the back which tied in well with the floral panels at the front and back.
Shirt to Skirt:
I upcycled an old shirt of my dads into this little simple but fun summer skirt! creating a new hem lineto my desired length, sewing the shirt opening shut and creating a waistline were 3 simple steps i took to create this little skirt.
I didn't want to throw away the top of the shirt so i simply readjusted the length, positioning of the pocket and liked how this boxed crop shirt turned out. Perfect to be worn together as a 2 piece in the summer and spring or seperatley paired over some mom jeans for a relaxed look.
Bedsheet Kimono:
i created this kimono style jacket using an old bedsheet from my Nanny, i loved the soft pastel floral print on the fabric so didnt want it to go to waste! my technique making this was simple; after hemming each edge of a large rectangle i folded this in half, cutting down the centre of one side of the 2 layered halves to create the jacket opening,i then cut two smaller rectangles off either side to create a wide T shape, i then turned it inside out after hemming all the edges and sewed the cut sides together to create the sleeves. to finish the edging i found a gorgeous little edging in a local haberdashery shop. i thought this dusty pink floral edging went well with the vintage floral sheet.
Front Fold Floral Shorts:
using excess material from my Nanny's bedsheet i created the shorts featuring a front flap edged using the same as that of the above jacket./these shorts were a challenge for me but i was pleased with the outome! i adjusted the size to my own body measurements and was able to fit them to myself with the aid of a zip and poppers.
| could be worn together with dusty pink dainty bralet in the summer time! |
Bleach it!
This tshirt was created experimenting with tie dye during the summer, i actually created this top to wear to a concert during the summer and was proud to say i made it when i was given compliments on it. i loved how the simple black over sized tshirt reacted to the bleach so after typing my tshirt up in random sections i let it lay in a basin of bleach and water and let it work its magic! after removing the top, washing and drying, i then decided to distress areas my fraying the neckline and the sleeves, i then darkened these with a little black die. i then cut the top to my desired length leaving approximately 3-4 inches to allow me to fray the top without it becoming too short or tearing into the sleeve hole.
